In this episode of the Blogging Diabetes Podcast I get to talk with Mike Lawson about a lot of different topics such as: diabetes, his podcast, Mike’s role at the Diabetes Hands Foundation, mirror mantras and his involvement in many different areas of diabetes advocacy.
I think Mike’s co-hosting the Sweet Talk podcast a few years back is where I first was introduced to him. We have yet to meet in person, but have exchanged messages for around four years now. I’m happy to have Mike on the show and enjoy listening to his podcast.

Great stuff Tony and Mike. So glad you are back in Cali Mike – I only spent 8 days in AZ in Aug and knew then there would be no way Id make it 5 years. Dry Heat is a myth. It was interesting about not bringing up diabetes on first dates and your comment Mike about not being a diabetes educator all the time. Glad DOC was there for you at dinner – can’t imagine what others in restaurant might have thought as you poured sugar packets in your mouth. Curious though at what point during a first date you might share – like if you feel yourself going low and you are with your date. Just received Emotional Eating with Diabetes and Ginger is wonderful. I love that you are so involved Mike – we all win against D with you on our side. It is hard to explain the full value of what an online community means to those of us involved to others – it is true that one must experience it to understand it. Mirror mantras – I still don’t get how its not backwards. Glad the mantras are back. Thanks for hosting Tony – always fun to hear Mikes stories.
