In this episode of the Blogging Diabetes Podcast I chat with Scott Benner about his experiences as a parent and having a child with diabetes. His daughter Arden was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. Scott and I first met at the Lilly Diabetes event last May where he pitched me the idea for his book that was in the works. His experiences as a stay-at-home dad, dealing with diabetes and living life are pretty remarkable.

Scott also touches on his efforts to start a charity to help under privileged kids get access to pumps and CGMs. What I love about Scott and our talk is that it just felt like a natural discussion with a good friend.

Mr Scott is a source of inspiration to all parents who are facing the challenge of bringing up children afflicted with Type 1. With a parent like him in the vicinity, a child Type 1 diabetic can never ever have any problems! Also, his endeavors in bringing out a book on this all-important subject are thoroughly appreciated.

Great episode Tony! Found your podcast a few months back and typically don’t visit the site (but I plan to be better at that…) I very much related to Scott’s experience as my 9 year old has been Type1 for almost 2 years now. Because of your show, I’ve ordered and am eagerly awaiting his book! Keep up the great work on the podcast and great focus on your numbers!

Thanks Tim for the comment and feedback! Scott, LeighAnn from episode 50 and Lorraine from episode 41 are great resources for parents who have children with diabetes. I personally recommend all three of them.
