In this episode of the Blogging Diabetes Podcast I dive into some of the incidents that happened over the last two weeks while traveling for work and taking a family vacation.
One of the questions I get quite often is about my CGM and what I like and don’t like about it. In this episode I talk a little bit about why I enjoyed a few days without my Dexcom attached, but it came at a price.
I can no longer say that I’ve lived 14+ years with diabetes and never had a trip to the hospital because of it. This past Sunday night was my first trip to the ER since I was 5 years old and broke my leg. Have a listen and find out what put me in the hospital.

Did I overreact? Would you have gone to the ER? I hope you enjoy the episode!

Tony: sorry to hear of your ER experience, bro. I don’t think you over-reacted at all: DKA is very serious. I’ve been. To the ER three time in my adult life: once for food poisioning, once for a dental issue,NAND only once for diabetes – the result of a low while driving. Ive also had paramedics come to my home a few times because of Lows. None hghs, though i tend to reprt to the home-remedies cen when I probably shouldnt ad am getting sick. That guilty feeling is natural and it’s what I feel when exposed to those situations. for Highs, it usually takes me a couple hours to start seeing noticeable impact from new insulin. So I usually take it easy and rest until then. And they also say not to chug wiser, but to sip.. Chugging will make you sick. Anyhow, glad it all balanced out. But sorry you missed that 1st day of school experience! Glad the vacation was great, too!
