As we approach a nice long weekend here in the States, I wanted to pose a question to the Blogging Diabetes readers.  I’ve been on an insulin pump for almost 4 years now.  Just the other day, I had something happen for the first time ever on the pump.

What happened?

Who knows, I might just throw an Amazon gift card at a random person who answers correctly.  I will probably post the answer mid next week.

Well, I have a few theroies but I think my best option is when you changed your infusion set, you had a gusher (blood). Can’t wait to hear what it was.

A gusher would be my first guess (darn you Chris). I’ll go with a No Delivery error.

Given that Tony said the pump, I have to ask: how often do you need to change the batteries on one of those things?

Well, I’m going to be different and say you dropped it in the toilet.

Hmmm, I’m pretty sure you’ve blogged about having gushers every once and a while. And I know batteries don’t last four years.

Are we allowed to guess the same thing someone else has? If so, I am thinking it was your first No Delivery error. I thought that even before I saw Gary’s comment. :)

If I have to pick guess something that no one else has guessed before, then I’ll guess you had your first kinked cannula. Although I can’t imagine going 4 years without running into that. :)

PS: I fear I have a :) addiction. I need to work on that. :) :)

You were bleeding a lot and it probably looked like a scene from “DEXTER”. A gusher. It happens, Hydrogen Peroxide, or salt and water will lift blood from clothing :-)

Some great answers so far! Remember, duplicate answers are okay because I will randomly pick a winner from those who answered correctly.

I will allow up to two guesses to cover those who have already answered and didn’t know that they could go the same way as someone else.

Thank you!

Hmm, I’m going to say that your tubing got caught on a doorknob (or something similar to that) and you ripped out your infusion set.

I actually haven’t done that in a while – can’t even recall the last time I did that – so I’m pretty sure I just jinxed myself to do it….

Hmmm…. did you lock the keys on accident while it was in your pocket? I’ve done that… and I didn’t realize you could even lock the screen and had to call tech support only to learn all I had to do was push two buttons together to get it unlocked.

Ok, I know it’s not the gushers because that has happened before. I know it didn’t die because you did a vblog (I think it was a vblog) on that……. toilet maybe but I doubt it……. no delivery possibly….. but after 4 years??…ummmmmm

Let’s see, did you forget to reconnect?

Guess 2… did you forget to take it off before going into the shower?

My husband’s guess…. Did you run out of insulin?

I’ll take a second guess then. I didnt read through your past blogs so missed a lot of it.

Didja catch your tubing in your ‘fly’ zipper? LOL!

I go with a day of BGs all within tight range. I think we’ve only had that once since Caleb was diagnosed.

I’m late to the party, but better late than never!

I’m going to go with you ripping out your set on accident.
