Ah, a fresh start – a new year with so many things to accomplish.  I’m going to resist the urge to over commit to too many resolutions that I know are beyond my grasp.  I will go with a few that I know are attainable.  The top three for 2009 are:

  1. A1c constantly in the sixes
  2. Cut back on caffeine
  3. Drink more water

Notice I said “cut back” and not eliminate the caffeine.  Right now I drink an energy drink every morning that houses ’bout 200 mg of caffeine.  After that jolt, I probably drink another 4-5 12oz cans of diet soda.  My drink of choice is Diet Mt. Dew.  I admit it, I am completely addicted.

My daily water (straight water) consumption is probably about 8 oz, unless you count a few mouthfuls when I brush my teeth in the morning and at night.  Not good, huh.

The A1c goal is a no-brainer.  My goal has always been to consistently be in the sixes.  The only catch is to accomplish this goal in a safe way.  I don’t want to even out the 200s by mixing in a lot of 40s just to bring the average down.  That is very dangerous and risky.  What do you want to accomplish in ‘09?
